| Duties | The district is organized to furnish services to prevent and suppress fires and protect and preserve life and property against the hazards of fire. It has all the rights and powers to carry out these proposals, including but not limited to: exercise right of eminent domain; establish, equip, and maintain a fire dept.; appoint and employ necessary employees; purchase, maintain and operate ambulances; establish, equip and maintain rescue and first aid services; enter into contracts; adopt and enforce reasonable ordinances for the prevention and suppression of fires and for the preservation of life and property from the hazards of fire; and issue specified permits |
| Qualifications | • Two members must reside within boundaries of former Westside Fire Protection District. • Five members must reside within boundaries of former Mid Valley Fire Protection District (Districts 1, 2, 4 and 5). |

| AB 1234 Ethics Training | Pursuant to Government Code Section 53235, if any local agency provides any type of compensation, salary, or stipend to a member of a legislative body or provides reimbursement for actual and necessary expenses incurred by a member of a legislative body in the performance of official duties, then all agency officials shall receive training in ethics. |
